Research:

Omega 3, Omega 6 and Omega 9 Fatty Acids.

Omega 3 Fatty acids come in two types. These are Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA).

Omega-3 fatty acid intake is associated with the joint health. Supplementation with EPA and DHA is effective for maintaining healthy joints.  (Paraphrased from Goldberg and Katz 2007). It is believed that Omega 3 Fatty Acids reduce the production of cytokines. The reduction of the production of cytokines may be the reason that Omega 3 Fatty Acids are thought to support healthy joint function.

Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic acid is a polysaccharide (a type of carbohydrate) that naturally occurs in high amounts in the skin, joints, and eyes, providing lubrication and keeping tissues hydrated.

Hyaluronic acid, also known as hyaluronan. It is a clear, gooey substance that is naturally produced by your body. Its main function is to retain water to keep your tissues well lubricated and moist. The body uses Hyaluronic Acid to maintain moisture in skin, and eyes. It also assists in retaining moisture, mobility and flexibility in the connective tissues in joints like knuckles, knees, ankles and the spine. The main function of Hyaluronic Acid in joints is to retain bodily fluids to keep your tissues well lubricated and moist.

Hyaluronic Acid is abundant in healthy joints. It maintains the space between bones in joints to maintain healthy joint mobility. Hyaluronic Acid is manufactured by the body and assists to maintain a healthy joint function.

Glutamic Acid

Glutamic Acid is an amino acid used to form proteins. In the body it turns into glutamate or glucosamine.

Glutamic Acid is the precursor to glucosamine.

Glucosamine is a very well know supplement that has been associated with joint health and maintenance.

Glutamic Acid is a conditionally essential amino acid that helps nerve cells in the brain send and receive information from other cells.

Glutamic Acid is easily the most abundant neurotransmitter in the nervous system and is reported to be the transmitter responsible for approximately 40% of all cellular communication. One of Glutamic Acid's main roles in the body is to support detoxification by cleansing the body from high levels of ammonia. It acts as a buffer and converts excess ammonia into other amino acids, amino sugars and urea. This detoxification is believed to assist in the health and maintenance of all the joints in the body.

Copper Sulfate

Copper is an essential nutrient for the body. Together with iron, it enables the body to form red blood cells.

Copper helps maintain healthy bones, blood vessels, nerves, and immune function, and it contributes to iron absorption. Sufficient copper in the diet is necessary for a healthy cardiovascular system and maintaining healthy bones in the body.

Copper plays an important role in maintaining collagen and elastin, major structural components of our bodies.

Copper must be consumed as Copper Sulphate to be able to be absorbed by the body.

Copper promotes the production of collogen. Collogen is then used to maintain connective tissue that makes up the scaffolding for bones.

Scientists have hypothesized that Copper may have antioxidant properties. Superoxide dismutase (SOD) cells contain and require copper to function. These SOD cells turn free radicals into hydrogen peroxide which is subsequently reduced to water and eliminated.

Joint Pain!!!

When reading this article please keep in mind that supplements are not drugs. They are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. These articles are truly for your information.

Most people think of joint pain as being something that only the elderly suffer from. That's simply not true. Joint pain is a problem that can exist for people of all ages. A young person might suffer from pain in their joints that all of our grandmas called growing pains. This is an occurrence that seems to accompany growth spurts. As we age, joint pain becomes a more common experience, often resulting from injuries and various physical activities. The extensive hiking, snowboarding, skiing, running, and participation in team sports can lead to significant wear and tear on our joints.

There are lifestyles that provide a healthy way to stave off the pains and the debilitating loss of ROM (Range of Motion). Exercise is one of the most important regimens that a person needs to establish before the pain gets too bad. Weight-bearing exercises are some of the most important. Other exercises include stretching and aerobic. The best advice that can be given to a person who has joint aches and pains is to warm up with some stretching exercises, spend twenty minutes using weights to strengthen the muscles that support the sore joints then a brisk walk or bike ride to finish off the exercise session.
Jogging is a popular exercise, but it is also a jarring exercise that can be hard on aching joints (specifically the ankles, knees and hips). Brisk walks, bike rides and other exercises that get the blood flowing are just as effective as jogging.
